“Kleine Fugue”
“Kleine Fugue”
[Little fugues]
01. | Fugue | BWV 952 in C Maj. | |
02. | Fuga à 3 | BWV 953 in C Maj. | (n. 31 of Clavier-Büchlein) |
03. | Fuga di J.S. Bach | BWV 961 in C Min. |
The little fugues, often added to the different editions of the preludes and fugues, are separate pieces that appear in different collections of manuscripts.
The little fugue BWV 952 can be found in various collections of handwritten copies while BMV 953 forms part of the “Clavier-Büchlein vor Wilhelm Friedemann Bach”; the little fugue BWV 961, whose authenticity is sometimes disputed, is most probably an early work composed when J.S. Bach was in Arnstadt.
