HISTORICAL NOTES
The first publication of this series of studies for piano was made in Vienna by the publisher Anton Diabelli about in 1833 with the title:
"Die Schule der Geläufigkeit auf dem Pianoforte, oder : 30 Übungsstücke um die Schnelligkeit der Finger zu entwickeln".
["The School of Velocity at the Piano or : 30 practice exercises to develop the speed of the fingers"]
and at the same time in Paris by the publisher Maurice Schlesinger with the title:
"Étude de la vélocité pour le piano ; 30 exercices calculés pour développer l'égalité des doigts, composés par Charles Czerny".
["The School of Velocity at the Piano ; 30 studies to develop finger equality, composed by Carl Czerny"]
The second edition, improved with another 10 studies and coinciding with the current one,
was published in Vienna in 1838 by Anton Diabelli with the title modified in:
"Die Schule der Geläufigkeit auf dem Pianoforte, oder : 40 Übungsstücke um die Schnelligkeit der Finger zu entwickeln".
